UK NEWS Update

Its been a busy time all around the D-One World, but here's some news from the UK...

1st GBR Fleet
End Feb/beginning March the 1st fleet was formed at Lymington Town SC. In the middle January Russ Hopkins, Rodney, Sue and myself took the demo boats to Lymington (see http://www.devoti-one.co.uk/devoti-one_suntouched4_003.htm for pictures). Dave Gorringe, Giles Chipperfield & Nick Simmons’s (welcome to you all) boats were delivered at the end of Febuary.

“Three brand new Devoti D-Ones arrived at Lymington Town S.C. on Saturday, direct from the Devoti boatyard in Poland. The eager owners were soon tearing off the transport packaging and rigging their new boats, with the help of Devoti dealers, Suntouched Sailboats of Hayling Island. RYA Dinghy Show
D-One being there was on; was off; was on. Many thanks to Rodney for helping out with Cirrus and getting us on the Cirrus Raceboats stand, with the Devoti Icon and the Blaze, the stand received a stream of visitors, resulting in bookings for test sails, thank you all for helping out over the weekend.

The formation of ‘The British D-One Association’
Tim Garvin (Chairman), Jon Hammond (Secretary) and Charlie Chandler (Technical & Training) were duly elected.

Results from this weekends Exmoor Beastie, unfortunately only Russ Hopkins and Charlie Cumbley could make it (or didn't check the forecast) Russ 40th Charlie 11th interestingly Russ was announced as Junior at the prize giving !! (30 is the cut off in Somerset)

Dear D-one friends,

2010 saw the culmination of the Devoti Sailing 'dream' of creating a new , modern, hi-tec, fast and suitable for everyone boat - the D-ONE.

Development of the D-ONE was not cheap, but then top quality never is. From concept to finish we constantly sought the opinions and advice of the world's top sailors and the boat was modified accordingly.

The end result is a beautiful boat built to a high finish and incorporating the latest sailing technology. D-ONE is now part of a dynamic growing class of its own and I am sure that, just as proud as we are to build her, you will be as proud to sai,l and own her.

The first five prototypes came into existence in 2008, and twelve months later, after extensive co-operation with the world's top sailors, we were able to bring you the best boat possible.

2009 saw the first international race of the D-ONE in Italy.

2010, and a number of international races such as the VOLVO Cup with over 30 participants, the Italian Nationals and Winter Series 2010/2011, all in Italy and other international races in CZE, GER, AUT, GBR with the highlight of the season being the 1st Gold Cup in Valencia/Spain with 30 boats taking part.

Our program for 2011 is a 'simple' one. This means stabilizing our production from the perspective of both Quality and Quantity and to allow D-ONE sailors to take part, not only in numerous international races across Europe ( over 30 events this year) but also to participate in our training camps, mostly organised in Valencia, where you will have the opportunity to be coached by the current Gold Cup winner Agustin Zabalua in your own or charter boats (pls see our website).

Our goal is to create a large happy family of D-ONE sailors and to help them in every way possible to enjoy and get the most out of sailing this wonderful new boat.
